Games bigger for iPhone users than Android or BlackBerry
App discovery firm Mplayit has released new figures showing that iPhone owners are seemingly more keen on games than Android and BlackBerry owners.
The company says that games account for 47% of the traffic to the iPhone section of its Facebook app, which lets people browse and recommend applications for the various smartphone platforms. This, despite the fact that games only account for 20% of the 130,000 iPhone apps listed on the site.
However, only 30% of the traffic to Mplayit’s BlackBerry section is for games, while for Android the proportion is even lower at 20%. The news isn’t a big surprise – Apple is running high-profile TV ads that focus on games, after all, while the other platforms have tended to highlight the wider spread of apps in their marketing activities.
Methodology: Mplayit collected the data from 50,000 visitors to its Facebook app during the last two weeks of January.
